Batteries provide power to the controllers of the HP Reverb G2. Each controller requires two AA types.

Charged to 1.5V, alkaline batteries provide a good power source. However, the controllers require 3V to operate correctly. Consequently, not enough power may cause them to switch into low power mode therefore choosing the right ones are important.

The more common NiMh batteries do not provide enough power as they operate at around 1.3V which is not enough. Not having enough voltage is one of the main reasons for poor tracking.

The Li-Ion battery, in the AA format, is recommended as they will provide exactly 1.5V each and have the extra advantage of being 20% lighter than standard varieties.
